Troop 36 is a member of the Canyons District, Orange County Council, California, and is chartered by the Irvine Company. Our meetings are held each Wednesday evening from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. We meet in our own Troop 36 Scout House, located near the corner of Jamboree and Irvine Blvd. ( Map to the Troop 36 Scout House). Our Scout House has been our home for over 25 years. The Troop was initially chartered in 1952 and we have been meeting within a block of this site ever since. The inside of our Scout House is decorated with over 40 years of Scouting memorabilia!

The grounds surrounding the Scout House are large enough to allow camping. Each March we have a campout at the Scout House with all of the new Scouts. We call it a Tenderfoot Weekend. This gives the new Scouts an opportunity to work on Scout and Tenderfoot rank advancement and complete the requirements for Toten' Chip. It also introduces the Scouts to the Outdoor Program in an environment not too far from home.

As you can see from our Troop Program , we have a mix of "tailgate" campouts and backpack trips. We have a Venture Crew for those in the Troop wishing for a more challenging program. Our 1997 Venture Crew program included a 2 day ski trip to Mammoth and a caving trip to the mountains in Nevada. The Venture Scouts must also participate in the regular Troop program to maintain a position on the Venture Crew.

My goals as Scoutmaster are to ensure a Scout run organization, strive for 12 outings each year and to develop a program that keeps Scouts of all ages interested in Scouting.

Our Troop Program is developed each year by the Patrol Leader's Council. There is minimal adult intervention in this process. The adults offer suggestions for outings and activities and help to ensure minimal calendar conflicts with Council and school events. The PLC develops the Troop Plan that is then submitted to the Committee for approval.
