Troop 36 Parent Committee Meeting
February 2003
Minutes

 

The list of those present will be an addendum to these minutes.

The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Jeanne Stone.

The minutes of the previous meeting was approved as presented.

 

SPL Report – Adam Corbin

The new scout weekend will take place in April.

The Viking and Scorpions patrols have merged. The new patrol is The Scorpions.

 

Scoutmaster Report – Mike Eberle

Snow Camp could have been better named Dirt Camp!

Camporee is April 25 – 27. Rich Cantu will be handling food for the adults. The troop will be running the First Aid station. We need parent volunteers.

Warning to all Scouts about the inappropriate use of matches. They are not to be played with. Any Scout caught using them in play will have them taken away for six months. Matches are to be hurricane quality and are to stay in the ten essentials kit.

Eight new Scouts are confirmed to be joining the troop.

The troop is looking for Dads interested in going to Summer Camp.

Please offer encouragement and support to Eagle projects. Akshay and Justin’s projects are ion progress.

 

Treasurer Report

Popcorn Sales totaled $124. We collected $4,000 in registration fees.

 

Outdoor Activities – Jim Clarke

Plans for attending Philmont were discussed. The troop passed a motion to advance the $250 deposit to hold space. At the time of the meeting there were five spots open. Dates are July 18 – 30. Contact Jim Clarke.

Jim reminded parents who have driven to events to see Bev for reimbursement and to record service hours.

The ski outing is 2/22.

 

Membership

Registration fees for recharter are $60 for adults and $44 for youths.

Confirmed eight new scouts for membership, with a possible additional four.

 

Old Business

Summer Camp payments for January and February installments should be paid by now. There may still be room, be sure you submit names for waiting list.

Craig Oberlin will have a list of merit badge opportunities after the March meeting.

 

New Business

The next Court of Honor is April 30. Sissy Oberlin will coordinate.

Camporee is April 25 – 27.

Sprinkler installation may need to be approved by County. Stretch will check.

A motion was passed to approve spending $400 from the maintenance budget for the sprinkler installation supplies, contingent on the County approving the project.

Tom Corbin reported on other upcoming improvement projects: Remove extra lumber (need pickup truck to take to dump.), lighting installed near storage container, and hookup water fountain. Please see signup at Scout House.

Mr. Corbin announced a schedule to cleanup the inside and outside of the Scout House every Wednesday.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.

The next meeting will take place March 11 at 7 p.m. at the Scout House.
